Bollinger Bands

Bollinger Bands is a technical analysis indicator developed by John Bollinger in 1980 that is used to determine volatility. The bands expand when volatility increases and contract as volatility decreases. Price movements beyond the upper and lower limits of the bands are considered abnormal. With the use of Bollinger Bands, projections can be made regarding whether current prices are high or low.
